The D2 Visa is arguably one of the most straightforward entrepreneurial residency programs in Europe. Also referred to as the Portugal Residence Permit for Entrepreneurial Immigrants, or Visto D2 in Portuguese, the program is fast becoming popular among non-EEA entrepreneurs seeking to settle in Portugal. This visa enables the person to reside in Portugal for the purpose of exercise of “professional activity” or as an “entrepreneur”. This visa route requires you to show that you have either:
-a company operating in Portuguese territory; or
-hold the necessary financial resources in Portugal (e.g.: including a loan from a Portuguese bank) to demonstrate that you intend to set up a company in Portuguese territory (Article 60(2) Law No. 23/2007).
There are specific documents that you need to provide to the authorities, including to the local banks when opening a bank account, and we will assist you on that process, in all application procedures, given you the right guidance. Among the documents that the applicant needs to provide to the authorities, is a well-structured business plan that needs to be delivered, according to the Article 31(2) and (3) of the Regulatory Decree No. 84/2007.

· helping proofing through our assistance, that you have the financial means available in Portugal to start a business (e.g. a corporate bank statement from a Portuguese Bank and a letter from the bank confirming that funds are being held in that account for that purpose);
This is without any doubt, an extremely important measure that allows to attract direct foreign investment in Portugal, alongside the tax regime of non-habitual residents, introduced in Portugal in 2009.
In summary, this is a system specifically directed to third country nationals (non-EU members, which allows granting a Residence Permit by means of an investment activity in Portugal and those who for economic reasons, family or others, decide to invest or establish themselves in the country.
